Star righthanded pitcher Kenta Maeda of the Minnesota Twins autographed this official MLB ball in 2021.
Maeda pitched for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp from 2018-2015, cementing himself as one of the great starting pitchers in NPB history. In eight seasons in red, he amassed quite the resume:
Pitching Triple Crown (2010)
5× NPB All-Star (2010, 2012–2015)
3× Best Nine Award (2010, 2013, 2015)
5× Mitsui Golden Glove Award (2010, 2012–2015)
2× Eiji Sawamura Award (best pitcher in the league) (2010, 2015)
2× Central League wins champion (2010, 2015)
3× Central League ERA champion (2010, 2012, 2013)
2× Central League strikeout champion (2010, 2011)
NPB All-Star Game MVP (2012 Game 2)
He then signed an eight-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers before the 2016 season. He was solid in L.A., showing flashes of brilliance, but never truly reclaimed his dominant form until the Dodgers traded him to the Minnesota Twins in 2020. In 2020, he led the major leagues in WHIP (0.750) and finished second in American League Cy Young Award voting behind Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Indians.
Still signed through 2023, we look forward to seeing Maeda continuing to show that he is one of the best pitchers in the world!
