Baseball is back in Japan, with all 12 Nippon Professional Baseball teams opening spring training earlier this week. Official preseason games begin on February 21, though clubs will play plenty of unofficial games and scrimmages beforehand to get in shape for the new year.

Meanwhile, Samurai Japan will open its World Baseball Classic training camp on February 14. The team is scheduled to play exhibition games against the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks (Feb. 22-23), Chunichi Dragons (Feb. 27-28), Orix Buffaloes (Mar. 2), and Hanshin Tigers (Mar. 3) as part of its buildup to the big tournament, which begins March 5.
