With just one week remaining until NPB interleague play begins, the top of the standings in both leagues is as tight as ever. The Hanshin Tigers still lead the Central, but the Yomiuri Giants, Hiroshima Carp, and reigning champion DeNA BayStars are all within one and a half games. In the Pacific, the Seibu Lions and Orix Buffaloes are within a game of the first-place Nippon-Ham Fighters, and the defending pennant-winning SoftBank Hawks are only three behind.

Tuesday (May 20)
- Shugo Maki, Tyler Austin, and Toshiro Miyazaki each homered as the BayStars routed the Dragons, 10-2.
- Hiroto Saiki (Tigers) threw a complete game shutout against the Giants.
- Kenya Wakatsuki (Buffaloes) hit a walk-off home run against the Marines.
- Hideto Asamura (Eagles) had his streak of 1346 consecutive games played come to an end. It was the longest streak in PL history.
Wednesday (May 21)
- Hiroya Miyagi (Buffaloes) allowed one run in eight innings with six strikeouts against the Marines.
- Yuya Gunji (Fighters) walked off the Hawks.
- Mikiya Tanaka hit a late home run to propel the Dragons over the BayStars, 6-5.
Thursday (May 22)
- Yutaro Ishida (BayStars) threw a one-hit complete game shutout against the Dragons.
- Raito Ikeda (Marines) hit two home runs in a 9-1 win over the Buffaloes.
- Rookie Rui Muneyama (Eagles) walked off the Lions.
Friday (May 23)
- Yuji Akahoshi (Giants) threw his first career complete game shutout against the Swallows.
- Shoma Kanemura (Fighters) threw his third complete game shutout of the season against the Eagles.
Saturday (May 24)
- Hideto Asamura (Eagles) became the 56th player in NPB history to reach 2,000 career hits.
- Teruaki Sato (Tigers) extended his NPB lead with his 12th home run.
- Tatsuya Imai touched a personal-best 160 kmh (100 mph) and Shinya Hasegawa hit two home runs as the Lions topped the Marines, 6-1.
Sunday (May 25)
- Hiroki Tokoda (Carp) threw his third complete game shutout of the season against the BayStars.
- Shosei Togo (Giants) finally won his first game of the season.
- Yutaro Sugimoto collected 6 RBI as the Buffaloes exploded for 13 runs against the Hawks. Ryoma Nishikawa homered for his 1,000th career hit.
